In an attempt to improve the nursing assessment based the needs of patients, the authors carried out the comparative study on the emotional disturbances of patients to be admitted to obstetric and gynecological wards at Chungnam Natioanl University Hospital from May 1. 1981, to Sep. 30. 1981, by General Health Questionnaire (G. H. Q. ).
The results obtained were as follows:
1. The scores of the hospitalized patients group on the G. H. Q. were significantly higher than those of the control group(P<0. 005).
2. The emotional disturbances of hospitalized patient group were significantly relationship with age, marital state, marital life, number of delivery, and kinds of disease (above P<0.05).
3. The emotional disturbances of control group were significantly relationship with only number of abortion.
